Repeat After Me: Portrait

Installation view of installation Repeat After Me

2013

6 varying stretched canvases approximately 60” high and 12” wide arranged in a circle approximately 6’ in diameter, microphone, audio electronics

This interactive installation was created for the San Diego Museum of Art’s Summer Break event series exploring the theme of portraiture. It uses six human scale canvases which each act as a speaker through the use of audio transducers adhered to the back. A conspicuously placed microphone invites viewers to contribute their own sounds to the collective aural portraiture of the event. Sounds enter the circle of canvases from one speaker and move around the circle to where they slowly fade into the background amalgamation of sounds that have been collected there since the beginning of the event.
